Asplenium Crissie Amy - Bird's Nest fern
This is an indoor fern (also known as birds nest fern) that has larger leaflets than most and a full foliage. It needs to be protected from direct sunlight or the leaves will become scorched. They prefer high humidity levels, so regular misting is encouraged. Water from the bottom, keeping the soil slightly moist at all times.
Asplenium Crissie Amy is an easy care Bird's nest fern with a sense of fun. The classic bladed leaves end with wavy fronds that become more frilly as the plant matures.
Asplenium Crissie Amy is well behaved and undemanding but does like a degree of humidity making it ideal for adding a touch of easy care, air purifying greenery to kitchens and bathrooms
Light: Moderate, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight and deep shade.
Water: Water thoroughly during the growing season but less so in the winter. Keep moist but do not allow to stand in water. Bird’s Nest Ferns are best watered around the plant, directly onto the soil as watering the centre of the plant may cause it to rot.
Temperature: Cool to average household temperatures between 16-21°C. Keep away from draughts.
Humidity: Does not like hot, dry conditions, prefers at least some degree of humidity. Mist regularly. Ideal for a bathroom or kitchen. Can also be grown in a terrarium to increase humidity levels.
Feed: Does not require a lot of extra feeding. Apply a weak solution occasionally during the growth season.
Care tips: Remove excess dust with a damp cloth, however take care to avoid tender new fronds. Do not use leaf shine as the fronds are sensitive to chemicals. Rotate your plant if it gets more light from one side, this will help maintain an even shape.
